The Art of Meditation

"Meditation is just to be, not doing anything – no action, no thought, no emotion. You just are. And it is a sheer delight. From where does this delight come when you are not doing anything? It comes from nowhere, or, it comes from everywhere. It is uncaused, because the existence is made of the stuff called joy. It needs no cause, no reason. If you are unhappy you have a reason to be unhappy; if you are happy you are simply happy – there is no reason for it. Your mind tries to find a reason because it cannot believe in the uncaused, because it cannot control the uncaused – with the uncaused the mind simply becomes impotent. So the mind goes on finding some reason or other. But I would like to tell you that whenever you are happy, you are happy for no reason at all, whenever you are unhappy, you have some reason to be unhappy – because happiness is just the stuff you are made of. It is your very being, it is your innermost core. Joy is your innermost core.”

Meditation is the practice of being present with oneself, of being aware and witnessing what is happening moment to moment. There are different meditation techniques available, nonetheless, the aim is always the same: developing the capacity to be in the here and now as much as possible. When we get familiar with the ability to be in the present moment the mind gets quieter, the heart rate slows down and a general sense of wellbeing takes over. In the long run, all this translates into a much greater sense of fulfilment in life, less anxiety, more space to breathe and more relaxation.

Developing a meditation practice is not always easy, some support can be useful. I have lots of enthusiasm and years of practice. If you need any help to start a meditation practice, or motivation to go on practising please reach out.

I try to bring the fragrance of meditation into my work, it adds presence and grounding, a capacity to be more receptive and empathic as a therapist. In my experience being in a meditative atmosphere, in utter presence while working with people is essential for the work to go deeper, in honesty, authenticity and respect for the sacredness of the space.
